PanAmerican SuperBike (PanAmSBK) wrapped up the 2022 season at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway (TGPR) this past weekend. With the season finale being a double points round, championships were on the line to be won.

The weekend began with a full day of practice on Friday for the PanAmSBK racers. Not only was TGPR a new track added in the 2022 season, but it was a new track to all of the racers. By the lunch break, everyone seemed to be finding the race line. By the end of the day, several racers were putting in laps around 1 minute.

Saturday’s qualifying saw several racers breaking into the 59’s. Alex Arango with Top Pro Motorsports finished the day with the fastest qualifying time of 00:59.2.

During Sunday’s races, Christian Miranda had a successful day putting his Yamaha R6 and Dunlop tires on the top podium in the SUNOCO SuperBike 600 Grande Corsa, SUNOCO SuperBike 600 Sprint, and SuperStock 600 Sprint. With those 3 race wins, Christian secured himself the championship in each class!

Not to be out done on the track, Alex Arango matched Christian with 3 race wins of his own. With 2 days to get used the new Dunlop tires, Alex set the fastest lap of the day with a 00:58.2!

After a rough season start, Michael Barclay was able to get things right and put in a strong second half of the season. On Sunday, his hard work culminated with him putting his Yamaha R6 and Dunlop tires on top of the podium with wins in the SUNOCO SuperBike 600 Grande Corsa and SuperStock 600 Grande Corsa!

As PanAmSBK continues their expansion north, we are starting to see more racers from other regions on the podium. Riot Racing’s Chris Evans managed to sweep the Euro Light class with wins in both the grande corsa and sprint race.

In the highly competitive, drama filled Moto3 Amateur class, Tom Keith of Free Hugs Racing kept his head down and raced hard. With his 2nd place finish in the Moto3 Sprint race, he drafted past the 3 racers ahead of him to win the Moto3 Amateur Sprint championship!

On November 12th, PanAmSBK will wrap up the 2022 season with their awards beach party.
