PanAmerican SuperBike (PanAmSBK) returns to Carolina Motorsports Park (CMP) for round 3 of the 2023 season. The 3 day events proved to be challenging one for the racers. A bit overnight, early morning rain wet the track, but that gave way to partly cloudy skies for the afternoons.
Lucas Silva continues his dominance on the track after a little hiatus. Lucas took home 3 race wins in the Sunoco SuperBike 600 Grande Corsa, Sunoco SuperBike 600 Sprint, and SuperStock 600 sprint races. He was not the only Silva brother to bring home trophies. Fernando brought home 3 2nd place trophies in the 600 class races. Due to a mechanical issue, Bruno was able to complete the Silva Sweep this weekend. Bruno finished the weekend with 2 3rd place finishes in the 600 classes.
In the amateur ranks, Noah Yow broke through to the top spot with his first 2 race wins of the season. Noah started the day with a win in the SuperStreet 300 Grande Corsa. He followed that up with a race win in the Formula Twin Grande Corsa! I’m sure we will be seeing Noah on top of the podium again this season.
A missing face on the grid this season has been Chyler Weatherford. While we welcome him back to the grid, we are not sure some his fellow racers are as happy. On his return, Chyler swept the Sunoco SuperBike 1000 class with wins in the Grande Corsa and Sprint races.
We witness another new face to the top of the podium. Chris Mcleod has had a tough going over the past few seasons with mechanical issues plaguing him. His patience and persistence paid off this weekend as he crossed the line in first place in the Moto3 Grande Corsa and Sprint race.
Next month PanAmSBK returns to Roebling Road Raceway on June 17 and 18 for round 4. After last year’s track repaving, we saw many track records set that day. With the new pavement in place for a year, will we see more records fall?
